What a Verified Dating App Actually Means - Inside DateSteady Verification

Verified on DateSteady is not a badge. It is a list you can read. Every profile shows what has been checked: phone, email, age, photos, the optional live selfie and a friend's vouch, with everything beyond the required phone and age added together into a public Trust Score you see before you say hello. A phone number is confirmed before anyone can like or send a message, so every conversation starts with someone who has cleared at least that step.

Why "verified" is not all the same

Many apps call themselves "verified" when all they offer is one optional photo-check badge, and a badge on its own tells you nothing about what was checked. DateSteady does not rest on a single label. The selfie badge is one optional step among eleven. Every profile shows six checks and a public Trust Score, so you read what a person has done before you say hello. That is the difference between a badge you take on faith and a profile you can read.

The six checks on every DateSteady profile

Phone

Confirmed by a text code. Nobody can like, show interest or send a message until their phone is confirmed. It comes before the first message, not before you can look around.

Email

Confirmed by a link. It is optional, it counts toward the Trust Score, and the profile shows whether it is done.

Age

Everyone gives a date of birth and must be 18 or older. Where the law requires it, a third-party age check applies. The partner sends DateSteady a pass or a fail and nothing else.

Photos

Every photo is screened automatically when it is uploaded, before it appears on a profile. Anything that does not pass is held for review.

Selfie badge (optional)

A member takes a live selfie, and it is compared with their own profile photo. The badge shows the person in the profile photo is the person holding the phone. It is optional, and the profile shows whether it has been done.

A friend's vouch (optional)

A member asks someone who knows them to write a few words. The vouch appears on the profile, and the Trust Score goes up.

The public Trust Score

Every profile shows a public Trust Score from 0 to 100, built from eleven steps: the six checks above and five profile steps. Phone and age are required of everyone, so they add no points. The five remaining steps build out the profile: a completed questionnaire, a full profile, three or more photos, a voice prompt and a video greeting. A higher number means more has been checked. You see it before you say hello.

Verification is the foundation, not the finish line

DateSteady pairs these checks with anti-romance-scam detection, human review on escalation, and encrypted messaging, and it never sells your data to advertisers. The checks raise the cost of pretending; the rest keeps the community safe and private once you are in. These are safeguards, not guarantees. A selfie badge confirms the person in the photo is the one holding the phone, not who they are, and no check can rule out every misrepresentation. We do not run criminal background checks. Your data is encrypted, you can export or delete it anytime, and we never sell it.

Date on an app where you can read the checks before the first message.
